Our third-party liability insurance covers damages caused to third parties with the rental vehicle and complies with EU standards:
Personal injury:
up to €1,300,000 per injured person
Property damage:
up to €1,300,000 per incident
Additional included liability coverage:
• Third-party liability for damages caused by an uninsured vehicle – included
• Third-party liability resulting from fire and/or explosion – included
• Coverage for natural events.
For the Heraklion area and within a radius of 80 km, the minimum rental period is 4 days. For the regions of Chania and Ierapetra, as well as within a radius of 40 km, the minimum rental period is 6 days.
For the following regions, as well as areas within a radius of 20 km, a minimum rental period of 8 days applies: Myrtos, Sitia, Plakias, Palaiochora, Moires, Hora Sfakion, Agia Galini, Makry Gialos, Kolymvari.
This also applies if the vehicle is returned in one of these regions.
Please make sure when completing your booking that you hold a valid driving licence, are at least 23 years old, and have held your licence for at least one year. If you are younger than 23, you may still rent and drive a vehicle provided that the main driver is at least 23 years old and is registered in the rental agreement; otherwise, full insurance coverage will not apply.
All prices listed on our website are final prices and include all the insurance coverage mentioned above. For vehicle pick-ups during night hours (22:00–08:00), an additional fee applies: €25 at Heraklion Airport (and Heraklion Port) and €45 at Chania Airport (and Souda Port). The night fee at Sitia Airport is also €45.
You can find the prices on our main page — simply select your rental dates and click "Check availability". You may return the car to any part of the island with no additional charges.
If the booking is made less than 3 days before vehicle pick-up, the reservation can only be made without a deposit. The full amount must be paid upon vehicle collection. Discounts and special offers are not applicable in this case.
All traffic fines and penalties incurred during the rental period are entirely the responsibility of the renter.
Your rental car will be delivered with a certain amount of fuel and must be returned with the same amount. Fuel costs are the customer’s responsibility. No refund is given for unused fuel. The nearest petrol station is approximately 2 km from the airport.
Alternatively, you can choose the full-to-empty option — simply select this option during the booking process.
Damage caused while driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or as a result of gross negligence, is NOT covered by our insurance. Undercarriage damage and tyre damage caused by driving off paved roads — such as on the off-road route to Balos — are also NOT covered by the insurance.
The insurance does not cover stolen or lost personal belongings of the renter. The renter is responsible for all costs resulting from the loss, damage, or replacement of vehicle keys, including recovery of keys locked inside the vehicle.
Use of the vehicle outside the island of Crete is strictly prohibited without prior written permission from the rental company. In particular, taking the vehicle on ferries (to other islands or the mainland) is not allowed without written approval from the rental company.

Would you like to relax and enjoy the scenery while someone else drives? No problem! We will gladly add a second driver to your rental agreement free of charge.
The vehicle will be delivered at the time you selected during the booking process. In case of a delay, we will inform you in advance via WhatsApp. Our staff member will meet you at your hotel reception. For Airbnb deliveries, please make sure there is a suitable parking space available for the vehicle handover so everything can run smoothly.
Heraklion area:
Vehicle delivery to hotels is available between 09:00 and 13:00. If you require delivery before 09:00, please send us an email. If possible, we will deliver the vehicle the evening before at no extra cost.
Chania area:
Vehicle delivery to hotels is available between 11:00 and 15:00. If you require delivery before 11:00, please send us an email. If possible, we will deliver the vehicle the evening before at no extra cost.
If you arrive by plane, our staff will wait for you at the arrivals exit holding a sign with our CretanCars logo, according to your flight’s official schedule. In case of flight delays, there are no extra charges, penalties, or cancellations — our staff will automatically adjust the pick-up to your actual arrival time. You may return your rental car at any time at the CretanCars airport parking area, which is staffed 24 hours a day. Vehicle pick-up directly at the airport — no waiting and no shuttle required.
For Heraklion Airport, the minimum rental period is 4 days; for Chania Airport, the minimum rental period is 6 days; and for Sitia Airport, the minimum rental period is 8 days.
If your selected vehicle model is not available, you will receive a similar vehicle from the same category. If you want to make sure you receive a specific model, please send us an email after booking at [email protected] , and we will reserve it for you.
For the following models, you can expect to receive exactly the vehicle you booked: Audi A3, Mini Cooper, VW Caddy, Toyota ProAce, VW T-Roc, Peugeot 208, Toyota Auris, Toyota Corolla, Smart, Fiat 500, Hyundai Tucson, Suzuki Swift Hybrid, Nissan Micra New, Kia Stonic.
All our vehicles are equipped with air conditioning for a comfortable drive.
If you wish to change the date or time of your booking, please inform us as early as possible. If the vehicle is available, we will gladly make the changes and your existing deposit will remain valid. If you decide to change to a different car model after booking, the deposit already paid cannot be refunded or transferred.

All our returning customers receive a special discount when booking a rental car. To get the discount, simply enter your email address during the booking process, and the final discounted price will be shown in the last booking step.
In addition, loyal customers can book without a deposit while keeping their discount.
If you need to cancel your car rental booking, the 10% prepayment can only be refunded within 24 hours after completing your booking. You can always make a reservation without prepayment by selecting the button "BOOK WITHOUT PREPAYMENT. PAY ON PICK-UP" in the final step. Please note that discounts are not available when booking without a deposit.
If a booking is made without prepayment and incorrect information is provided, or if we are unable to reach you by email or phone, the booking may be cancelled.
Online payment is completely secure. We do not store any transmitted credit card details. Payment processing is handled by WorldLine in cooperation with EuroBank Greece
A prepayment for the vehicle is not mandatory. You can complete the booking without a deposit and pay the full amount upon vehicle handover. You may also pay in cash when the vehicle is delivered. Payment by credit card or regular debit card is also possible. Credit card payment is not mandatory.

- Marketing data: stored until consent is withdrawn.
6. Data Sharing & Security
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties unless required by law.
- Secure processing methods include SSL encryption, access control, and compliance with industry security standards.
- For payment processing, we use third-party providers such as WorldLine. These providers act as independent data controllers.
- We use Google Analytics to improve our website, with IP addresses anonymised.
- In the event of a data breach, affected users will be notified within 72 hours.
7. Cancellation and Refund Policy
- Cancellation requests must be sent to [email protected] at least 30 days before the booking date.
- Refunds are only possible within 24 hours after payment and are subject to a 5% processing fee.
- Any vehicle can always be booked without prepayment, with full payment made at pick-up.
- Refunds are processed within 30 days using the original payment method.
